Do you struggle to eat healthy while you travel? Are you sick of coming back from traveling feeling sluggish and heavier than when you left?
Over the past couple of years I have been on the road a lot, and one of the biggest ways to set yourself up for success is by packing tons of go-to travel snacks! When in doubt, over-pack these. Better to pack more, than to run out and default to lower energy options from the gas station or defaulting to airplane food because you are starving! 1. Dark Chocolate
70% or greater Cacao Content- high fiber, high protein, low sugar, healthy fats, amazing for heart health and magnesium! Awesome treat especially if you have a sweet craving! My favorites are Alter Eco Sea Salt and Theo Mint Chocolate
2. Nuts and Seeds!

3. Rhythm Kale Chips!
Love these!! If you are looking for a salty snack or craving chips, make a simple swap to these! These Kale Chips taste like Doritos! (mind you, I haven't had a Dorito in like 6 years, but they are delicious!!) But unlike Doritos, these kale chips are high in fiber protein, and nutrients which will keep you energized and leave you feeling full, unlike standard chips which are straight carbs, spike your blood sugar, and lead to energy crashes and looking for another bag .
4. Sardines (Canned)
I just recently discovered that I LOVE sardines. Don't knock them til you try them! High omega 3 fats, amazing source of clean protein, low mercury fish option! Canned sardines are an amazing on the go snack or lunch option. If you like canned tuna, give sardines a try! I like to eat them alone, on top of a salad, or flaxseed crackers! I love Crowne Prince, Season, or Wild Planet brands, boneless/skinless, in extra virgin olive oil, wild caught, non-gmo!
5. Justin's Almond Butter Packets
Great to pair with chopped veggies, or banana/apple that you can pick up at gas station/airport for healthy fat and protein to fill you up and keep you energized!
6. Righteously Raw Coconut Macaroons
I LOVE THESE! Individually wrapped coconut macaroons. 80% cacao organic dark chocolate with coconut filling. All clean ingredients! Righteously Raw is one of my favorite brands! This is an amazing sweet treat with fiber, protein, and low sugar option- great candy bar alternative!
7. Healthy Jerky
Jerky from Grass fed/farm raised animals with no chemical additives. Epic bars and Taanka bars are my go-tos! Favorites are the Epic Chicken Siracha Bar, Epic Pork Bites, and the Epic Venison Bites!
8. Paleo Grain Free Granola!
Brands including Paleona or WholeMe granola are 2 of my favorite clean, grain-free, low sugar brands!! These granola's are low sugar, high fiber, high protein options with tons of different flavors to keep you off blood sugar roller coaster and feeling satiated! I highly recommend Almond Coconut or Lemon Berry Chia Wholeme Granola!
9. Salad Fixin's!
Packets of olive oil and vinegar and jarred veggies like roasted red peppers! You can always pick up a dry salad of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers from McDonalds or Wendy's and add nuts, berries, canned salmon, sardines, or tuna, and jarred olives, red peppers, artichokes, etc. and build yourself a delicious salad! Having these packets of olive oil and vinegar are a great swap from sugary, rancid oil based dressings often offered at fast food restaurants. Refreshing low glycemic fruit option! Berries are filled with antioxidants and fiber, great paired with some nuts, seeds, and/or dark chocolate! Buy Organic :) Great for road trips to pack in a cooler!
11. Paleo Angel Power Balls
These protein packed bites are perfect for travel! They are gut friendly, power packed balls that will fill you up and satisfy any sweet cravings! They are low sugar, high fiber, high protein made with coconut flour and grass-fed beef collagen protein which is amazing for your gut , your joints, and your skin! Tons of different flavors! My favorites are vanilla, carob, lemon, and snickerdoodle. They come in sealed packages of 2, ready to grab on the go!
If you are a fan of olives, jarred Olives are an amazing go-to snack to pack! Black olives, Kalamata olives, etc. I like the Mediterranean Organic Olives which are just packed in red wine vinegar. No artificial colors, flavors, etc and not oily. These are great to munch on by themselves or put on top of a salad!
